PRE-K CLASS
FULL DAY: MONDAY-FRIDAY, 9AM-2PM
BEFORE CARE (7:30AM-9AM) & AFTER CARE (2-5:15PM) AVAILABLE
Little Pines Academy Pre-K Class Curriculum (ages 4-5) encompasses the Social and Emotional Skills, School and Fine Motor Skills, and Academic skills that will not only give your child confidence but also ensure they are Kindergarten ready. We use multiple research based curriculums to teach Literacy and Phonics including LetterLand for reading skills and Learning Without Tears to master writing composition and the writing process. Sight Word Identification is introduced in January. Pre-K students participate in engaging whole group lessons helping them master math skills such as number identification to 50, rote counting to 100, comparing and ordering numbers and sets, tally marks and modeling numbers, addition and subtraction, counting coins, and so much more! The PreK class dives deeper into monthly thematic Social Studies/Science Units often based on the scientific process. Our students experience hands-on learning through centers, small group mini-lessons, and teacher facilitated independent exploration. Expect a differentiated learning experience ensuring each child flourishes and is challenged to grow to their highest potential!
Progression Reports will be sent home with Pre-K students in October, February, and May. Progression Reports for the Pre-K class include Social and Emotional Skills, School and Fine Motor Skills, and Academics.
FAQ: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 4YO PROGRAM AND PREK?
Our 4YO class is primarily 4YO’s although we will have some students turning 5. The PreK class is a mix of age 4 and age 5. Both classrooms use Letterland as the curriculum and both teachers can scale the difficulty of the lessons down or up to better accommodate each individual student. Students can go straight from either the 4YO program or the PreK program to Kindergarten and be successful. However, the PreK program has a little more Kindergarten prep. It’s not uncommon for children with July – September birthdays to enroll in a 4YO program after the 3’s as opposed to going straight to PreK, to prevent them from being the very youngest in their Kindergarten class.
